Humbert Spells Out New Airbus Priorities


Gustav Humbert will sit in the right hand seat at Airbus.

ILA 2000: Three top priorities for the Airbus division of EADS will be to launch the giant A3XX airliner, the A400M military transport, and to convert Airbus from an economic cooperative grouping to an integrated company, according to Gustav Humbert, will be chief operating officer of Airbus.

Humbert, currently chairman of Dasa Airbus, told Show News the A3XX is strategically important to challenge Boeing's 747-a monopoly we are not willing to accept any longer."

The seven nation A400M transport "is of great importance to Airbus because we need also a military leg like Boeing to increase our international competitiveness," he said.

The Airbus Integrated Company will be formed "very soon" he promised, as EADS, with an 80% share of Airbus "will have full control on all assets, capabilities and capacities," enabling the one management "to speed up our internal decisionmaking process and to react quicker to changing market requirements."
