Jeppesen Skates into Dispatch Business

Jeppesen has launched a new unit to offer complete airplane dispatch services, and the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets is its first customer.

The new Flight Operations Services unit of Boeing-owned Jeppesen is intended to support small aviation operations by freeing them from the expense and overhead of an in-house dispatch operation. The company has put together a team of licensed, experienced dispatchers with access to Jeppesen's own weather, planning and maintenance databases and other industry resources.

Jeppesen Flight Operations Services will offer complete flight planning, weight and balance calculation, crew briefing, maintenance scheduling and more. For operators like the Blue Jackets, who operate a single DC-9 under FAR Part 125, the service saves a substantial element of operating and overhead cost.
