| Air Show Orgaziners Need to Cooperate Singapore -- Fighting amongst air show organizers is wasteful and counterproductive, and it is time they took a leaf from the book of the industries they represent and learn to cooperate. That's the opinion of Rainer Hertrich, joint CEO-elect of the new European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS). Targeting the organizers of Farnborough and Paris-Le Bourget, he called on them to work with Germany's ILA in Berlin to hold one major European show every year, rotating to each of their countries every three years. And he singled out Farnborough for criticism for changing its dates to July from September, bringing it extremely close to ILA this year. "It would be of great assistance if the three European air shows were to coordinate their dates better instead of battling against each other, because all those taking part spend large sums of money on those events," Hertrich told Show News. " That is why for a number of years now we have been pleading for three-yearly intervals between the air shows: one year ILA, the next year Le Bourget and the following year Farnborough.
"In industry we are now actively building our own piece of
Europe in the aerospace industry. The organisers of such air shows
should take a page out of our book," he said. |
