Turkish Order Launches New Black Hawk Helicopter Cockpit

Under a $28 million contract, Rockwell Collins is providing the avionics to upgrade 58 Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk utility helicopters of the Turkish Army and Jandarma (military police)-the first application of a specially-developed cockpit retrofit. In conjunction with Sikorsky, Rockwell Collins has developed a common architecture configuration which can also be applied to the CH-53 Super Stallion (which has been selected by Turkey for purchase) and the new Sikorsky S-92 Helibus. Four 6-by-8-inch multifunction displays are featured in the new cockpit, together with a dual flight management system and modified instrument panel which improves the pilot's view. Provision is included for display of FLIR imagery and a digital moving map display.
