Australian Operators Extend Saab 340 Leases for Six Years

New South Wales operators, Kendell Airlines and Hazelton Airlines have each agreed to six-year extensions of leases on parts of their Saab 340 fleets with Saab Aircraft Leasing AB of Stockholm, Sweden. The Kendall agreement covers two of the 16 of this type in the fleet, while Hazelton has extended two of its eight and is preparing to receive a ninth. Its expansion is in order to take advantage of the market possibilities provided by recent deregulation in New South Wales. Of necessity, following Saab's departure last year from civil airliner manufacture, any additions will be of pre-used aircraft. Saab's leasing arm has a portfolio of over 300 aircraft (340s and 2000s) with 28 airlines in 17 countries.
