| Cessna in 2000 Cessna rolled out the first production Citation CJ2 in January. Two CJ2s have been flying since last year, and FAA certification is expected in May. Powered by uprated Williams FJ44-2A engines, the CJ2 is a higher-performance, stretched version of the original CitationJet and is intended to compete with the new Raytheon Premier I. Cessna took orders for 353 Citations in 1999, bringing the total Citation backlog to 650 units. The 3,000th Citation was delivered last year. Cessna also delivered the 2,000th single-piston aircraft produced since the company restarted production in Independence, Kansas, in 1996. Cessna took orders for 899 Skyhawks, Skylanes and Stationairs in 1999. The company has announced its Millennium Edition singles, which include special trim features and a Bendix-King KLN 94 IFR/GPS navigation system with a color moving map. By Bill Sweetman |
