BFGoodrich Aerospace's Advisory Ice Detector Certified for Falcon 50 Jets

BFGoodrich Aerospace has an STC to supply the fleet of 250 Falcon 50 business jets with an advisory ice detection system with a magnetostrictive sensing probe that collects ice three times faster than typical systems. It is especially useful because it detects the presence of rime, runback and clear glaze ice. Once ice is detected the system notifies the flight crew via an indicator light in the cockpit. In other news, BFGoodrich's FASTboot de-icers, designed for business aircraft, now have PMA approval on 33 platforms. FASTboot pneumatic de-icers are said to eliminate the labor-intensive installation and drying times usually associated with other products.
