| Thomson Racal Defence Has Eurofighter Mission Support Components Development of key elements in the world's most advanced mission support system (MSS) is being claimed by Thomson Racal Defence for the Eurofighter Typhoon, through a program worth over $30 million. TDR is part of an all-European consortium including Espelsa of Spain, Alenia Difesa in Italy and Dornier in Germany. Its main MSS contribution includes mission planning and briefing components. This system will provide for automatic route suggestion, from base to target and return, 3D fly-through, target planning and briefing. Maximum use is made of COTS hardware and legacy software for a variety of its modules, but the key design drivers for the system have been an all-new architecture not based on previous core products. This is designed to facilitate modifications and extensions including a system providing a comparison between recorded data for missions planned and missions flown.
